Mats was a school friend of Per's and they started writing together around 1977. They went on to form bands such as Grape Rock , Peter Pop and The Helicopters and , of course, Gyllene Tider. He has co-written some of Roxette's big ballad hits with Per (example Listen To Your Heart).

Involved in Per's Garage project in 1989 and The Lonely Boys in 1996. Has co-owned Tits 'n' Ass Studio, Halmstad with Per for many years.
